Froginwell Vineyard

The Froginwell Estate is situated on 25acres of rolling pasture land, it’s actually just over the border in East Devon, but we don’t hold it against them.  Still in its relatively early stages, the vineyard was planted in 2005 and is approximately 1 acre in size. They grow six varieties of grapes, five white and one red, with the white Seyval Blanc variety as the main crop. They also make cider and have a fab café on site. There is a large market garden on site which grows a range of soft fruit, vegetables and flowers for the shop.

Froginwell has been making cider for twenty or so years and offers a range of ciders to suit all tastes. They also have some excellent oak matured cider vinegar referred to as ‘Silver Lining’

Unsurprisingly the farm does indeed have a well, and at one stage were looking to produce their own brand of mineral water, so they got people in to check the quality of the water, only to find a huge number of frogs in residence, which scuppered the plans for mineral water, but gave the owners a great idea for a name for their ciders, and more recently their wines.
